Trumpism 🐘 Newsbites
‘So he’s getting evicted twice?’ Twitter cracks up at the news Trump can’t live at Mar-a-Lago
Poor Donald…first he is rejected by 81 million Americans. Then he insisted they didn’t really vote against him, went to court, and lost 50 more times. Now in a final blow, even his neighbors at his beloved Mar-a-Lago have given the President this message: We don’t want you living here.

... Trump effectively relinquished his legal right to live at Mar-a-Lago in the 1990’s, when he signed an agreement converting his residence into a private club. This allows Palm Beach to publicly address whether the President can make Mar-a-Lago his legal home.

And…they said no.

... The Washington Post obtained a letter from the legal representative of the Mar-a-Lago neighbors alerting Trump that he cannot make the club his legal residence. The President is now in the embarrassing position of facing a legal battle to win the right to live somewhere he is clearly not welcome, or being evicted from the club if he chooses to move there anyway.

... Residents have been complaining for years about Trump’s presence in Mar-a-Lago. The President’s visits bring blocked roads, traffic jams, and he has repeatedly flouted restrictions (such as the height of his flagpole) while failing to deliver on the promises he made when he converted his private residence into the club.

Goodbye Mike Pence — You Should Be Ashamed of Yourself and You Will Not Be Missed
Goodbye, Mike Pence, the most self-professed religious man to hold high office in our lifetimes. You proudly wore your religion on your sleeve, your other sleeve, your tie, definitively all the way up and down those legs that you feared to place alone in a room with a woman unaccompanied by “Mother.” Strangely, you never wore that spirit in your eyes. Mike, you reserved your gaze for your other god, the one standing beside you. That look didn’t just humiliate you, it creeped us the fck out. It had one redeeming value, it symbolized the freaky hold that the godless, soulless, and immoral Trump, held on the most self-professed believers in the nation with you as their leader.

... In a dictionary that might combine shameless with coward, you’ll be right there, Mike. And that’s nothing compared to what history will have to say. It should send shivers down your spine. It may be that you played a critical role in selling your country out. Now you face that as your defining work on this earth, Mike.

Which brings us to our final short point. If this world and this life belong to Jesus as you believe, Mike. You are going to have a difficult talk when you meet him. “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for Justice,” Jesus said. You best start working on your apology now, Mike … not to mention your excuse.

Goodbye, Mike. You will not be missed. Thankfully you likely won’t be seen. You’ll be busy working out that arrangement with Jesus, and we suggest you start soon – if you ever believed it at all.

Dominion threatens defamation lawsuit for Sidney Powell's election conspiracy theories: 'You are not entitled to your own facts'
  • Dominion Voting Systems has sent a letter to lawyer Sidney Powell threatening to sue her for defamation if she does not retract her false claims about the company.
  • Powell, who was kicked off the Trump campaign's legal team, has filed numerous lawsuits seeking to overturn the results of the presidential election.
  • Her lawsuits and public statements are premised on a conspiracy theory that Dominion has secret ties to foreign governments and flipped votes from President Donald Trump to President-elect Joe Biden.
  • Dominion has never provided machines or any of its software or technology to Venezuela, nor has it ever participated in any elections to Venezuela," the letter, obtained by Insider, reads. "It did not receive $400 million from the Chinese in the weeks before the 2020 election. It has no ties to the Chinese government, the Venezuelan government, George Soros, Bigfoot, or the Loch Ness Monster."
"Your reckless disinformation campaign is predicated on lies that have endangered Dominion's business and the lives of its employees," the letter reads. The letter, obtained by Insider, also takes aim at the Trump campaign and right-wing media outlets like Fox News, Newsmax, and the Rush Limbaugh show. It says Powell made "wild, knowingly baseless, and false accusations" on "behalf of the Trump Campaign as part of a coordinated media circus and fundraising scheme."

Biden says he will 'not stand idly by' on the massive US cyberattack that Trump hasn't bothered to address yet
  • President-elect Joe Biden released a strongly-worded statement Thursday, condemning the massive hack of the software firm SolarWinds, which is believed to have been carried out by Russian hackers.
  • By contrast, the White House and President Donald Trump still have not commented publicly on the attack.
  • Biden said he will make dealing with the hack a "top priority" from the moment he takes office, adding, "Our adversaries should know that, as President, I will not stand idly by in the face of cyber assaults on our nation."
  • Utah Sen. Mitt Romney criticized Trump's silence on the issue, telling CNN, "This is almost as if you had a Russian bomber flying undetected over the country, including over the nation's capital, and not to respond in a setting like that is really stunning."
"We have learned in recent days of what appears to be a massive cybersecurity breach affecting potentially thousands of victims, including US companies and federal government entities," the Biden transition team said in a statement.

"I want to be clear: my administration will make cybersecurity a top priority at every level of government — and we will make dealing with this breach a top priority from the moment we take office," Biden added. "We will elevate cybersecurity as an imperative across the government, further strengthen partnerships with the private sector, and expand our investment in the infrastructure and people we need to defend against malicious cyber attacks."

The president-elect's statement came as the White House still hasn't publicly commented on the breach, which is believed to have been carried out by Russian hackers and is the biggest cyberattack against US entities in recent history.

SolarWinds' products are used by hundreds of Fortune 500 companies and multiple US government agencies, including the Pentagon, intelligence agencies, State Department, Commerce Department, Treasury Department, and more. Politico also reported Thursday that the hackers appear to have breached the US's nuclear agency, though it's unclear what information they obtained.

... Biden said in his statement Thursday that in addition to having a strong defense against cyberattacks, "we need to disrupt and deter our adversaries from undertaking significant cyber attacks in the first place. We will do that by, among other things, imposing substantial costs on those responsible for such malicious attacks, including in coordination with our allies and partners.

"Our adversaries should know that, as President, I will not stand idly by in the face of cyber assaults on our nation."

Vice President Mike Pence may skip town after overseeing final confirmation of Biden's 2020 victory to escape blowback from Trump, GOP
  • Vice President Mike Pence is eyeing a foreign trip the same day he will preside over Congress' session to affirm President-elect Joe Biden's victory in the 2020 election, Politico reported.
  • Three US officials told Politico that the vice president is considering taking a trip that would take him overseas starting January 6, and a government document revealed that Bahrain, Israel, and Poland could be among the vice president's destinations on the trip.
  • The trip serves to reinforce the Trump administration's role in mending international relations between Israel and some Arab countries, Politico reported.
  • It also gives Pence a reason to leave Washington and avoid any blowback from the GOP, according to Politico.
