C.D.C. Urges Americans to Get Vaccinated Amid Virus Surge
Dr. Rochelle Walensky, the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, warned that the U.S. is at “another pivotal point in this pandemic” as the infectious Delta variant continues to drive the majority of new Covid-19 cases.

Compared to the virus we had circulating initially in the United States at the start of the pandemic, the Delta variant is more aggressive, and much more transmissible than previously circulating strains. It is one of the most infectious respiratory viruses we know of, and that I have seen in my 20-year career. We are yet at another pivotal moment in this pandemic, with cases rising again and some hospitals reaching their capacity in some areas.
